Our Approach To Wound Care

BVC Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine is a specialty outpatient clinic dedicated to treating many types of non-healing wounds. However, saving patients from unnecessary or avoidable lower limb amputations is our mission. Amputations related to the complications of peripheral arterial disease, or diabetes mellitus, are the most common cause of lower-extremity amputations. Approximately 50,000-60,000 major lower-extremity amputations are performed each year in the U.S. as a result of diabetes-related complications.

Why Patients Choose Us

  • Expert Physician Evaluation

Every patient is seen and evaluated by a board-certified physician — not just a nurse or technician. Our doctors take the time to fully assess your condition, review your history, and develop a personalized plan tailored to your specific needs.

  • We Treat the Underlying Condition

Wounds often signal a deeper medical issue — poor circulation, venous insufficiency, diabetes, or arterial disease. We go beyond surface-level wound care to identify and address the root cause, improving your long-term outcomes and reducing the risk of recurrence.

  • A Comprehensive Team Approach to Care

Healing requires coordinated support. Our multidisciplinary team — including wound care specialists, vascular physicians, and support staff — works together to ensure every aspect of your care is aligned. You get a complete care plan, not a piecemeal approach.

How We Help

Our Services

Because every patient is unique, we begin with a thorough assessment to determine the underlying cause of your wound, then implement a personalized treatment plan.

Treatments and interventions are selected based on your specific diagnosis and healing needs — never a one-size-fits-all approach.

Treatments & interventions may include

  • Special tests of circulation
  • X-ray or other imaging
  • Debridement (removal of dead tissue)
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)
  • Special dressings or devices to aid healing

Advanced Treatment

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

HBOT is a treatment in which the patient breathes 100% pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber — approximately 2.5× normal atmospheric pressure. This high-pressure oxygen helps your blood deliver more oxygen to organs and tissues, accelerating wound healing and activating white blood cells to fight infection.

Conditions commonly treated

  • Chronic bone infections
  • Compromised skin grafts or flaps
  • Diabetic lower extremity wounds
  • Late effects of radiation
What to expect If you're a candidate for HBOT, a staff member will walk you through exactly how many sessions you'll need. Sessions typically last about two hours — bring something to watch or simply rest.
Before your session You'll be provided 100% cotton clothing to wear in the chamber. Cosmetics, perfumes, hair products, deodorants, wigs, jewelry, and electronic devices are not permitted. Most pacemakers are allowed.
